Many Taiwanese food restaurants have sprung up in Penang recently. Located in Pulau Tikus, A Bite of Taiwan restaurant is a double-storey pre-war house with sakura theme. There were beautiful sakura pictures on their wall and also sakura design on their menu cover.

Well, we were the only diners at that time. So, we really enjoyed the quiet environment in the restaurant. There were quite many tables in the restaurant and they were placed quite close. I can imagine it can be a bit noisy if there were many customers.

What we ordered were set meals and each set came with a main course, rice/noodle, drink, soup, stir-fried vegetables, fruit and dessert. We ordered a rice set with braised pork and a noodle set with minced pork and vegetables.

Mouthwatering fatty meat (looks like Dong Po Rou to me) |
The home-cooked braised pork tasted mild to me as it did not contain MSG. So it was healthy. The portion was a lot. The gravy of the braised pork went well with the white rice. What we loved most was the stir-fried long beans. It was tasty and crunchy.
The noodle set with minced pork |
We also loved the minced pork on the noodles. The noodle was rather sticky for me though.
Overall, we were satisfied with the dinner and the service. When we were paying our bills, the cashier was even courteous to ask our opinion on the food. I guess only one percent of the restaurants in Penang bother to check on their customers' feedback. So, A Bite of Taiwan is one of them.
